Dismissed Illinois guard Kendrick Nunn settles at Oakland

David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

Dismissed Illinois guard Kendrick Nunn will finish his college career at Oakland, he confirmed to CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein on Wednesday.

Nunn, who played three years for the Fighting Illini, was dismissed from the program near the end of May after he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery. The charge stemmed from an incident with a woman.

On the court last season, Nunn was Illinois' second-leading scorer with 15.5 points per game. The 6-foot-3 guard also contributed five rebounds per contest and was one of the bright spots on a team that struggled to pick up wins.

Nunn will be forced to sit out the 2016-17 season, per NCAA transfer rules. He'll have one year of eligibility remaining when he returns.
