Ex-Kentucky big man Marcus Lee officially transfers to Cal

After first being reported Saturday, the move home to Cal for transfer forward Marcus Lee is signed, sealed, and delivered.

The school announced that Lee signed a financial aid agreement Monday to officially join the Golden Bears. Lee spent the previous three seasons playing for John Calipari at Kentucky.

Lee had nothing but positive things to say of his experience with the Wildcats, according to SECcountry reporter Connor Smolensky.

"I want to thank the University of Kentucky, the basketball staff, and the Big Blue Nation for supporting me over the years," Lee said via a press release. "I'm sorry it took me so long to come to this decision, but I'm trying to do what's right for me and my family. I'll always think fondly of my time at Kentucky."

Cal head coach Cuonzo Martin was not the least bit shy about airing his excitement over the latest addition to his program.

"We're very excited to have Marcus Lee be a part of our basketball family," Martin said. "Marcus brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program. He's contributed and won at a high level in high school as well as in college."

Lee averaged 6.4 points, six rebounds, and 1.6 blocks in 21.8 minutes last season for Calipari's Wildcats. Martin believes the dual threat Lee poses on the floor will be a big asset to the Golden Bears.

"He's a high-motor guy with tremendous attributes on both ends of the floor," Martin said. "He's one of the best athletes in all of college basketball and he is committed to being successful on and off the court."
