Gonzaga's Karnowski returning to school for fifth season

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Gonzaga will have its big man back in the fold for the 2016-17 season, as Przemek Karnowski tweeted he's returning to school for his final season.

The 7-foot-1 center underwent season-ending back surgery in December, and will return to school for an extra year on a medical redshirt.

The Polish native appeared in just five games last season, averaging 7.3 points and 4.5 rebounds. In his junior season he was a dominant force, making 62 percent of his shots from the field, averaging 10.9 points, and 5.8 rebounds in just 24 minutes of action per contest.

The Bulldogs lost star forwards Domantas Sabonis and Kyle Wiltjer to the NBA and graduation respectively, so the return of Karnowski is huge news for coach Mark Few and the program.
