UNC Asheville's loss is Arizona's gain, as Dylan Smith, the former Bulldogs point guard, announced Wednesday he will be joining the Wildcats.

It didn't take Smith long to make his decision. Just last Wednesday he declared his intention to transfer from UNC Asheville following a successful freshman campaign.

Smith averaged a team-high 13.5 points last season, while chipping in 2.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists. He helped the Bulldogs to a 22-12 record, which included a victory in the Big South tournament championship. That win got the Bulldogs into the NCAA tournament, where they fell in the first round to eventual champion Villanova.

Due to NCAA transfer rules, Smith will be forced to sit out next season and can join Arizona for the 2017-18 campaign with three years of eligibility remaining.
