UNLV transfer Ben Carter commits to Michigan State

Tom Izzo is getting his hands on another grizzled veteran.

Former UNLV forward Ben Carter announced Wednesday that he will head to Michigan State as a graduate transfer and finish his college career with the Spartans.

Carter averaged 8.6 points and six rebounds last season but tore his ACL at the beginning of February, which wiped out the rest of his campaign. If healthy next year, Carter could conceivably step into the role left void by graduated senior Matt Costello, who produced similar numbers in similar minutes to Carter.

The Spartans will represent Carter's third collegiate team. He began his career with Oregon State before transferring to UNLV.
