USC transfer Malik Martin headed to South Florida

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

USC transfer Malik Martin is headed closer to home after committing to join South Florida.

"After I finish up this semester of school I will be finishing my last two years of eligibility at the University of South Florida," the 6-foot-11 forward tweeted.

The Miami native suffered through a dismal second season with the Trojans, averaging just 1.8 points in six minutes per game. That came after a promising freshman campaign in which he scored 5.2 points and grabbed 3.6 rebounds in 17 minutes per contest.

South Florida is coming off an atrocious 8-25 season in 2015-16, and Martin's addition should give the club some much needed size in the post.

As per NCAA regulations, Martin will be ineligible for the 2016-17 campaign before returning to action the following year with two seasons of play left.
