The Dallas Stars are all over the Washington Capitals on Tuesday as they try to climb into a wild card spot in the Western Conference.
Veteran Stars forward Ray Whitney showed tremendous patience on Dallas' second goal. Alex Goligoski caught Washington's defense out of position with a stretch pass that sent Whitney and Alex Chiasson into the offensive zone with only Jaroslav Halak to beat. Chiasson sent a pass to Whitney, who waited for Halak to slide across the net before depositing the puck around him:
Dustin Jeffrey added his first goal with Dallas 34 seconds later to make the score 3-0 and chase Halak from the Capitals' crease. The Stars hold a 27-18 shot advantage late in the second period.
