NCAA Game Summary - Elon at Wofford
Spartanburg, SC (Sports Network) - Kevin Giltner scored a game-high 26 points as the Wofford Terriers defeated the Elon Phoenix, 72-59, in Southern Conference action at Benjamin Johnson Arena.
Giltner finished the night shooting 10-of-19 from the floor, including 6-of-13 behind the three-point line for the Terriers (17-11, 10-6 SoCon) as they won their second straight. Lee Skinner added 15 points and seven rebounds off the bench and Brad Loesing 12 points and eight assists for the hosts.
Elon (13-13, 8-7) was paced by Jack Isenbarger who tallied 17 points, followed by Ryley Beaumont and Lucas Troutman with 10 points apiece in the team's third consecutive setback.
Elon led by a basket early in the first half, but the team made just 8-of-25 from the floor in the period, compared to Wofford which knocked down 59.3 percent from the floor and 6-of-11 beyond the arc, en route to a 38-22 edge at the break.
In the second half the Phoenix tried to fight back by holding the hosts to 8- of-26 from the floor, while hitting on a sizzling 63.0 percent themselves, but it was too little, too late in the 13-point decision.
Elon, which turned the ball over 14 times, was outscored at the free-throw line by a 15-5 margin.
