NCAA Game Summary - Fresno State at Arizona State
Tempe, AZ (Sports Network) - Kevin Olekaibe hit a three-pointer with just under 30 seconds remaining and the Fresno State Bulldogs held on for a 68-65 victory over Fresno State in non-conference action at Wells Fargo Arena.
Olekaibe was 11-of-19 from the floor and hit six three-pointers, scoring 21 of his 30 points in the second half for Fresno State (5-8), which came from behind to earn the win and bring a halt to a four-game slide. Jonathan Willis and Jerry Brown also made valuable offensive contributions, finishing with 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Arizona State (4-8) wasted a strong performance by Keala King, who netted 22 points in defeat. Trent Lockett added 17 points and Kyle Cain tacked on 10 for the Sun Devils, who have now lost three straight games.
It was a tale of two halves, as Arizona State jumped all over Fresno, shooting 57.7 percent from the field in the first half, taking a 36-28 lead into the break. The Bulldogs found their range after intermission however, converting 62.5 percent from the floor (15-of-24), including 6-of-8 from three-point range to come from behind for the win.
For the game, Fresno shot 54.5 percent from the field and took great care of the basketball, committing just nine turnovers. The Bulldogs took full advantage of Arizona State's 10 turnovers, converting them into 19 points.
