NBA Draft Profile: Draymond Green
Draymond Green - SF/PF – 6’7, 236 lbs.
Michigan State

Despite the fact that he was a finalist for the Wooden Award as the top player in college basketball, Green will likely slide to the end of the first round due to concerns that he is a “tweener.” His true NBA position is somewhere between small forward and power forward. He doesn’t have the lateral quickness to defend small forwards and he doesn’t have the height to defend power forwards. This means he will likely become a Sixth man, in the mold of Thaddeus Young or Jeff Green.
The good news for whichever team drafts Green is that he is one of the most polished offensive players in this year’s draft class. His work ethic is not to be questioned either, as he clearly put in the time to improve his jump shot each off-season. As a freshman, he only attempted one three-pointer, while in his senior year he made 39% of his 134 three-point attempts. A very well-rounded player, Green recorded three triple-doubles at Michigan State, two of which came in NCAA tournaments. If he is able to find his natural position on defence, Green will be one of the steals in this draft.
Chad Ford of ESPN writes that “Green doesn't look much like an NBA prospect. He's undersized for his position and he's not the most ripped guy in the world. But when it comes to basketball IQ, shooting touch and feel, he's one of the best big men in college basketball.”
