Lou Williams will likely sit out the remaining six games on the Lakers' schedule

Coach Byron Scott said after Sunday's 107-100 loss to the Celtics that Williams would likely sit out the remaining six games on the Lakers' schedule, Eric Pincus of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Analysis:

The Lakers had been gradually phasing Williams of late prior to Scott's announcement, as the veteran guard had seen his minutes decline in three successive games before he failed to take the court in a coach's decision Sunday. In explaining his decision, Scott stated that he wanted to give more opportunities to the team's less experienced backcourt options down the stretch, so look for Jordan Clarkson, D'Angelo Russell, and Marcelo Huertas to assume the bulk of the minutes at either guard spot for the remainder of the campaign.
