Carmelo Anthony to rest vs. Pacers

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Small forward Carmelo Anthony will not play when the New York Knicks face the Indiana Pacers on Sunday evening.

Head coach Kurt Rambis said Anthony will "probably" rest for just one game. The Syracuse product is averaging 22.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 0.9 steals on 43.4 percent shooting in 2015-16.

Cleanthony Early will start in his first game of the season with Anthony sitting. The 24-year-old is averaging just 1.2 points and 0.7 rebounds in 12 games.

With the Knicks already eliminated from the playoffs, Rambis is likely willing to give some of Anthony's younger teammates extended minutes to finish the season.
