Report: Alec Burks to return next week barring setback

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

The Utah Jazz are set to get a last-second boost in their continued push for a playoff spot.

League sources tell Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune that swingman Alec Burks will return to the lineup after being out since December due to a broken fibula.

Burks could return as soon as Tuesday against the San Antonio Spurs, Jones notes. He will likely play on a minutes restriction upon his return.

Prior to his injury, Burks served the role of Sixth Man, averaging 14.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 38.7 percent from deep. He should give the floundering Jazz offense (one that ranked just 21st in offensive rating in March) a much-needed bonus.

Entering Saturday's games, the Jazz sit one game up on the Houston Rockets for the eighth seed in the West.
