A stellar shooting night from an unexpected source wasn't enough to push the injury-riddled Memphis Grizzlies past one of the worst home teams in basketball in the Los Angeles Lakers.

Tony Allen is converting only 44.2 percent of his field-goal attempts on the season, yet the 34-year-old veteran went a perfect 12-of-12 from the field for 27 points in a 107-100 loss Tuesday at Staples Center.

It was the first time in 33 career meetings with the Lakers that Allen has outscored Kobe Bryant, who had 20 points.

Allen is also the first player 6-foot-4 or shorter to shoot 12-of-12 from the field or better since Gary Payton hit all 14 of his shots against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Jan. 4, 1995.

Following the loss, Allen is now averaging 8.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.7 steals in 57 appearances for the 41-31 Grizzlies.
