Spurs waive Rasual Butler to make room for Kevin Martin

Brett Davis / USA TODAY Sports

The San Antonio Spurs officially signed shooting guard Kevin Martin on Wednesday, briefly after waiving forward Rasual Butler.

Martin reached a buyout agreement with the Minnesota Timberwolves last week. The 33-year-old sharpshooter has struggled this season, hitting a six-year low in 3-point percentage (36.9). He's averaged 10.9 points in 39 games this season, and joins Andre Miller as another veteran addition in San Antonio.

Butler saw sporadic action in his first season with the Spurs. The 36-year-old has played for eight NBA teams in his 14-year career.
