The Atlanta Hawks announced Tuesday the team has signed power forward Kris Humphries for the remainder of the season.

Humphries was waived by the Phoenix Suns on Sunday after playing in just four games with the team. The 30-year-old was acquired by the Suns prior to February's trade deadline in a deal with the Washington Wizards.

After losing Tiago Splitter for the season late last week, the Hawks likely felt obligated to strengthen their frontcourt depth as they continue their quest to reach the playoffs for the ninth consecutive season.

"As we explored opportunities to add to our team after the trade deadline, we felt it was important to prioritize experience and versatility," Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer said. "Kris is a versatile veteran with playoff experience who fits well with our group and within our system. We are fortunate to have Kris join our team and would like to welcome him to the Hawks family."

The Minnesota alumnus has averaged 6.5 points and 4.6 rebounds while shooting just 38.1 percent from the field this season with the Suns and Wizards.
