Report: Dorell Wright drawing NBA interest after season in China

Justin Ford / USA TODAY Sports

With the trade deadline passed and the playoff-eligibility deadline for buyout candidates looming, NBA teams are rapidly running out of ways to make meaningful roster additions.

One untapped market, however, is now in play. With the Chinese Basketball Association's season concluded for most teams, players freed from their contractual obligations there can seek NBA employment. One such player is 11-year NBA vet Dorell Wright, who's drawing consideration from several teams, according to Adrian Wojnaroswki of The Vertical.

Wright, a 6-foot-7 combo forward, is an able defender and strong 3-point shooter, having led the league in long-range makes (and attempts) in 2010-11. He played 48 games for the Portland Trail Blazers last season, averaging 4.6 points and 2.3 rebounds while shooting 38 percent from deep.

With a handful of contending teams desperate for wing depth - including the Cleveland Cavaliers (who lost buyout target Joe Johnson to Miami) and the Los Angeles Clippers - Wright figures to have a good shot at cracking a playoff roster.

The 30-year-old averaged 24.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists for North Control Beijing this season.
