Bosh staying involved with Heat amidst health scare

As he continues to deal with a hitherto undisclosed medical condition, Chris Bosh continues to be involved with the day-to-day activities of the Miami Heat, ESPN's Michael Wallace reports.

"He gets on the court, shoots (a few) jump shots and gets a little sweat in," teammate Dwyane Wade told Wallace. "He's still a big part of this team. As I've said before, he's around and he's in good spirits."

Bosh was initially diagnosed with a right calf strain, forcing him to pull out of the All-Star game (he'd previously played in every Heat game) after traveling to Toronto for the weekend festivities.

His condition has since been revealed to be more complicated - though the Heat have remained mum on the specifics - leading some to speculate about whether he might be dealing with the same blood-clot issues that curtailed his season at the same time last year. The clot that cost him the final 30 games of last season was discovered on his lung, but was said to have originated in his calf.

Bosh didn't travel with the team on its recent road trip, but he's been at practices, team meetings, and film sessions when it's been in Miami, Wallace reports. Wade and several other Heat players are reportedly optimistic that Bosh's condition is nowhere near as serious as last year's, and that he'll return to game action before this season is out.

"It's just unbelievable how much he's into it and how much he's invested," Heat swingman Luol Deng said. "A lot of guys could just stay at home and wait and see what happens. What everyone here has done is just give him some space ... and not keep asking him, 'What's going on?' That can get annoying."

The 31-year-old, 11-time All-Star has averaged 19.1 points and 7.4 rebounds, while shooting 46.7 percent from the field and 36.5 percent from 3-point range through 53 games. The Heat have managed to reel off three straight wins without him since the break.
