Report: Hornacek was proponent of Wizards dealing for Markieff Morris

The Phoenix Suns wiped their hands clean of disgruntled forward Markieff Morris prior to Thursday's trade deadline, sending him packing to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Kris Humphries, DeJuan Blair, and a 2016 first-round pick.

Washington took a big risk by acquiring Morris, whose final run with the Suns was marred in controversy. He took issue with the franchise trading his twin brother Marcus, got into a sideline altercation with teammate Archie Goodwin, and even tossed a towel at former head coach Jeff Hornacek, which earned him a two-game suspension.

Ironically, Hornacek, who was relieved of his duties by the Suns on Feb. 1 after a 14-35 start to the season, was a major proponent of the Wizards pulling the trigger on a trade for Morris, according to NBA.com's David Aldridge.

Washington reportedly contacted Hornacek to ask him if Morris would be the worth the trouble. Clearly a ringing endorsement was made, as the Wizards ultimately decided to go through with the move.

Morris has suited up in two games since landing in the nation's capital, averaging 5.5 points, three rebounds, and one steal, while shooting a pedestrian 26.7 percent from the field.
