The Milwaukee Bucks have signed veteran sharpshooter Steve Novak, the team announced Monday morning.

To clear up a roster spot for Novak, the team has requested waivers on forward Chris Copeland.

A recent report from ESPN's Marc Stein had Milwaukee as the "overwhelming favorite" to land Novak after he cleared waivers following his release from the Denver Nuggets on Friday.

Denver acquired the 10-year pro prior to Thursday's trade deadline as part of a package which sent guard Randy Foye to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Bucks will be the ninth team Novak has played for since being selected 32nd overall by the Houston Rockets in the 2006 NBA draft. His 43.8 3-point percentage for his career ranks sixth in NBA history.

Copeland averaged 2.1 points in 24 appearances for Milwaukee after signing a reported one-year, $1.1-million contract with the franchise this past summer.
