Report: Nets, Bargnani have opened buyout negotiations

Anthony Gruppuso / USA TODAY Sports

The Brooklyn Nets have opened buyout negotiations with center Andrea Bargnani, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.

Bargnani is making $1.36 million in 2015-16 and has a player option for next season set at $1.55 million.

The former first overall pick is averaging 6.6 points and 2.1 rebounds while shooting 45.5 percent from the field. Brooklyn has been a disaster with him on the court, posting a net rating of minus-15.2 and giving up an absurd 110.8 points per 100 possessions.

If Bargnani is bought out, it will be the first move made by newly named general manager Sean Marks, who was hired by the Nets on Thursday.
