The Miami Heat sent newly acquired guard Brian Roberts, along with a second-round pick, to the Portland Trail Blazers, the team announced Thursday.

Roberts was traded to the Heat on Tuesday, moving from the Charlotte Hornets in a three-team deal.

Miami will reportedly save $6 million after dropping under the luxury tax - something the Heat have been motivated to accomplish in recent days.

By acquiring Roberts, the Trail Blazers have reportedly reached the salary cap floor. The 30-year-old is averaging 4.8 points and 1.3 assists, while shooting 44.3 percent from the field.
