Report: Cavaliers interested in Joe Johnson, Ben McLemore, Trevor Ariza

Judging by the volume of reports over the past week, the Cleveland Cavaliers are looking to buy ahead of next Thursday's trade deadline.

The Cavaliers are showing interest in Sacramento Kings swingman Ben McLemore and Houston Rockets forward Trevor Ariza, and would also be interested in Brooklyn Nets forward Joe Johnson if he were to be bought out, league sources told Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com.

Reports that Cleveland is also interested in Jared Dudley, Kyle Korver, and Omer Asik emerged Tuesday.

The 23-year-old McLemore has fallen out of favor in Sacramento. He's averaging a career low in minutes at 21 per game to go with just 7.7 points and 2.1 rebounds. He's still posting a strong percentage from beyond (37.2 percent), but backup Marco Belinelli has drawn the lion's share of minutes at shooting guard.

The Cavaliers see McLemore as a contingency plan in the event that J.R. Smith leaves in the offseason, Haynes notes.

Cleveland would also like to land Ariza, but the Houston Rockets might not be willing to part with their best defender. The Cavaliers don't have much in the way of trade assets and Ariza figures to be a highly sought-after 3-and-D wing with a team-friendly contract.

Ariza is averaging 12.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 37.7 percent from the field.

If the Nets buy Johnson out, which he's reportedly not interested in, Haynes says the Cavaliers would love to bring the 35-year-old on board with a minimum deal.

Johnson is averaging 11.5 points and 4.1 rebounds in 33.9 minutes per game. He's shooting 37.1 percent from deep and could conceivably play three positions.

The Cavaliers sit atop the Eastern Conference with a three-game lead over the Toronto Raptors.
