NBA suspends Hassan Whiteside 1 game for elbowing Marjanovic

The NBA has suspended Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside one game without pay for throwing an elbow to the head of San Antonio Spurs center Boban Marjanovic during the fourth quarter of Tuesday night's game.

Here's the play in question:

Whiteside was assessed a flagrant 2 and immediately ejected from the game, which the Heat lost 119-101.

For all his gaudy stats, the 26-year-old impending free agent has come under increasingly heavy scrutiny for his apparent immaturity, selfishness, and lack of impulse control. He was suspended last season for a similar incident involving Boston Celtics center Kelly Olynyk.

Whiteside is averaging 12.2 points, 11 rebounds, and a league-leading 3.9 blocks this season.
