Marc Gasol: Has broken foot, out indefinitely

Gasol has been diagnosed with a fracture in his right foot and will be out indefinitely, Ronald Tillery of the Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.

Analysis:

Gasol departed Monday's game against Portland with what was initially deemed a mid-foot sprain, but further examination revealed a fracture in the center's right foot. While the team has not provided a timetable, Gasol is likely to miss several weeks at the minimum, and if the fracture is severe enough, it's possible he could be lost for the remainder of the season. A more definitive update should be available within the next several hours, but consider Gasol sidelined without a timetable until the team says otherwise. In the immediate future, Zach Randolph could be asked to absorb some of Gasol's minutes as an undersized center, while Ryan Hollins, Jeff Green, and Matt Barnes should also see their respective roles expand. The Grizzlies could get some relief in Brandan Wright's (knee) return after the All-Star break, which would provide the team with some much-needed center depth.
