Rudy Gay: Returns to action Monday

Gay (ankle) returned to the starting lineup Monday and played 27 minutes while chipping in 16 points (6-12 FG, 4-6 3Pt), seven rebounds, and a steal in a 120-100 loss to the Cavaliers.

Analysis:

Considering that Gay was doubtful to play in the contest as of Monday afternoon, the fact he was able to start and play a significant share of minutes is an encouraging sign. Gay is shooting a career-best 47.4 percent from the field this season, but his 17.8 points per game are the lowest of his career since his rookie season. The Kings will wrap up their first-half schedule Wednesday against the 76ers.
