Nash open to working with Suns one day, not ready to coach

Jennifer Stewart-USA TODAY Sports

Between his work as a consultant for the Golden State Warriors and his position as general manager of the Canadian senior men's national team, Steve Nash sounds like he has enough basketball in his life right now.

That's why he doesn't see himself involved with his former team, the Phoenix Suns, anytime soon.

"It's kind of a moot point at this point," Nash told Los Angeles Clippers guard J.J. Redick on the player's podcast for Yahoo Sports.

"I would be open to working with the Suns in the future," Nash said. "(But) coaching is one thing I'm not ready to do, or interested in doing."

The future Hall of Fame point guard had been linked to the Suns' coaching gig after the team fired Jeff Hornacek. Without much else outside of that report, the team subsequently hired Earl Watson for the position.

Nash remains close with Suns owner Robert Sarver, recently partnering with the businessman to purchase Spanish soccer team Mallorca.

Nash spent 10 of his 18 seasons as a player with Phoenix, winning two consecutive NBA MVP awards in 2005 and 2006.
