Gregg Popovich asks Kobe to 'stay in Kawhi's ear'

After bidding him adieu after 20 legendary seasons, San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich had one favor to ask of Kobe Bryant.

Popovich met with Bryant following the Spurs' 106-102 victory on Saturday, and asked the future Hall of Famer to share some of his wisdom with the next great Spur in Kawhi Leonard.

"After the game we talked about Kawhi a little bit," Bryant said told CBS's Ananth Pandian. "(Popovich) wanted me to stay in his ear a little bit and talk to him a little bit. I definitely, definitely, definitely will. I think he has a tremendous amount of potential and he's only going to get better. So if I can help him out in that regard, I most certainly will."

Leonard's already miles ahead of Bryant ever was on the defensive end (although Bryant was a great defender in his own right), but Leonard could stand to learn a thing or two from Bryant on offense.

Like Bryant, Leonard loves to set up shop in the mid-post, and he's already one of the league's most efficient scorers from the mid-range area. But Bryant is perhaps the best mid-range assassin since Michael Jordan, and Leonard could stand to pick up a thing or two from Bryant's bottomless bag of tricks.

If Leonard added that to his game to go along with his dead-eye 3-point shooting and lockdown defense, there's no telling what else he can accomplish in his young career.
