George Karl not worried about his job status

Sacramento Kings head coach George Karl is choosing to look the other way.

Karl met with the media prior to Saturday's game against the Boston Celtics and sidestepped questions about his job security.

"I don't have any control over what other people are thinking or saying. That's their storm," Karl told ESPN's Chris Forsberg. "My preference would be it wouldn't be there. But there's always energy today. Then, once something gets out, it magnifies and grows and becomes a storm. That's not my storm. My storm is the Boston Celtics."

The Kings are reportedly considering firing Karl after his team gave up 128 points in an embarrassing loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Friday. After climbing into a playoff spot midway through January, Sacramento has dropped six of its last seven (conceding an average of 116 points per game during the stretch), and now sit 3.5 games out of eighth in the West.

This isn't the first time Karl's job with the Kings has come into question. He and star center DeMarcus Cousins were known to be at odds last season, especially since Karl took it upon himself to try and get Cousins traded. That was preceded by Cousins tweeting a subtle dig at his coach.

Staring once again into the face of certain demise, Karl remains staunchly resolute. After all, the 64-year-old has two more seasons on his contract after this one.

"I don't think I'm in limbo," Karl said. "I think I've got a heck of a challenge (against) a team that's played damn well, probably its best basketball in the last six weeks. If you want to overreact to the last four or five games, that's somebody else's reaction, not my reaction. I think this team is still in a place that we can solve some problems and be good."
