Chicago Bulls shooting guard Jimmy Butler underwent a MRI Saturday to determine the severity of the left knee injury he sustained Friday night.

The MRI indicated that Butler incurred a left knee strain - a positive sign for the Bulls and their fans, who saw their best player carted off the court.

The timetable for his recovery is currently unknown, but it's expected that Butler will rest for a couple of games and then return, according to CSN Chicago's Vincent Goodwill.

Butler earned his second All-Star nomination last month thanks to averages of 22.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.3 assists.

Chicago will play three games in the next five days before taking a week off for the All-Star festivities.
