Tim Duncan ruled out Wednesday vs. Pelicans with knee injury

Soobum Im / USA TODAY Sports

The San Antonio Spurs announced Tuesday they'll be without the services of "The Big Fundamental" once again.

Tim Duncan will miss his fifth consecutive game as his team takes on the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday.

The 39-year-old has been dealing with soreness in his right knee, which has already forced him to miss marquee matchups against the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Duncan's having the worst statistical season of his 19-year NBA career, averaging 8.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks. His 17.4 PER - although above the league average - is the lowest it's ever been.

The 40-8 Spurs have yet to lose at home this season, and trail only the Warriors (44-4) in the standings.
