Coach Byron Scott said Saturday that Randle isn't certain to stick in his current starting role at power forward, Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News reports. "I still love what Julius has done," Scott said. "But when Larry [Nance] was in that starting role, he was playing extremely well."

Analysis:

Randle entered the starting lineup seven games ago when Nance was nursing a sore right knee, and he's continued to start the last three contests since Nance returned. In Friday's loss to the Clippers, Randle submitted arguably his best performance of the season, recording 23 points and 14 boards across 35 minutes, and has posted four double-doubles and averages of 13.4 points, 11.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 0.9 blocks over 29.7 minutes in his seven-start run. Though Randle is clearly a more superior option than Nance, Scott seems committed to putting both players in positions to excel, and in Nance's case, a starting role might be the best way for him to reach his full potential. Unfortunately, the same might also be true for Randle, but somebody has to play off the bench, and it's looking likely that Randle may soon be in line to do so.
