Spurs' Aldridge claims deleting Twitter had nothing to do with loss to Warriors

LaMarcus Aldridge was billed as the bridge to the next dynasty for the San Antonio Spurs after he joined the team for $80 million last summer.

Aldridge, however, managed just five points in Tuesday's blowout loss to the Golden State Warriors. Draymond Green bottled up Aldridge in the post, and defensively, the Warriors repeatedly exploited the slow-footed Aldridge in their patented high-speed pick-and-roll sets.

Following the game, irate fans crawled out of the woodwork to slander Aldridge on social media, which then led to the four-time All-Star deleting his Twitter and Instagram accounts.

However, Aldridge claimed Wednesday that his radio silence wasn't a product of the double whammy that he took, first from the Warriors, then from fans.

"I just wanted to lock in," Aldridge told the San Antonio Express-News. "It had nothing to do with that game."

The early returns after Aldridge's change were positive. He put up 25 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists on 9-of-13 shooting in the Spurs' 31-point bounceback win in Houston.

"I wanted to (be) better than I was the last game," Aldridge said flatly.
