Brandon Knight to miss Suns' 4-game trip due to groin injury

Amid their underwhelming, injury-plagued season, the Phoenix Suns will have to make due without another key cog.

Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic reports that Brandon Knight didn't travel with the Suns as they embark upon a four-game road trip, starting with a matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday. The guard was sidelined for the last two contests because of a nagging groin injury.

The Suns have had to cope with the recent loss of starting point guard Eric Bledsoe due to season-ending knee surgery, while backup playmaker Ronnie Price will be shelved for several weeks after going under the knife to remove loose bodies from his right toe.

Jon Leuer and Markieff Morris have also missed time because of back and shoulder ailments, respectively.

The loss of Knight leaves Phoenix with few remaining backcourt options. Added ball-handling duties will likely fall on Archie Goodwin, rookie shooting guard Devin Booker, and the recently signed Lorenzo Brown, who's on his second 10-day contract.

Knight is averaging a career-high 19.7 points through 42 games this season - second on the team after Bledsoe. He's also putting up 5.1 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 33 percent from beyond the arc.

Following Tuesday's game against the Sixers, the 14-31 Suns - who've won only twice in the month of January - will face the Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks, and Dallas Mavericks.
