Nuggets' Mudiay to return vs. Hornets after month-long absence

After missing almost a month, Denver Nuggets point guard Emmanuel Mudiay will return to the lineup Friday versus the Charlotte Hornets, according to Chris Dempsey of The Denver Post.

Mudiay has dealt with a sprained ankle over the last several weeks, with Denver going just 4-10 in his absence.

Despite his poor shooting - 31.1 percent from the floor and 24.7 from three - the 19-year-old will resume his spot in the starting lineup, with Jameer Nelson heading back to the bench.

Nelson averaged 10.1 points, 6.2 assists, and shot 39.3 percent from the field in 13 games as a starter. His subpar play was epitomized Friday night, as the Saint Joseph's alumnus went scoreless in 30 minutes.

The Nuggets have won just two of their last 12 contests, but run into a Hornets team that is dealing with a six-game losing streak of their own. Still sitting just 3 1/2 games back of a playoff spot, Denver will have a great opportunity to get back on track at the Pepsi Center.
