Mavericks to rest Nowitzki, Pachulia, Matthews, Williams vs. Pelicans

Tuesday night's double-overtime victory evidently took a toll on some of the Dallas Mavericks' older players, as the club will rest Dirk Nowitzki, Zaza Pachulia, Deron Williams, and Wesley Matthews during Wednesday night's contest against the New Orleans Pelicans.

All four veterans played at least 40 minutes during Tuesday's win over the Sacramento Kings.

Health has yet to be a major concern for the quartet in 2015-16, as they've combined to miss just nine games so far. Together, the four veterans have combined to average 56 points, 23.4 rebounds, and 11 assists this season.

Some of Dallas' role players could see a spike in minutes against the Pelicans. Raymond Felton, J.J. Barea, and Charlie Villanueva are all candidates to enter the starting lineup in place of their resting teammates.

The 20-15 Mavericks currently sit fifth in the Western Conference, yet are still 9.5 games behind the San Antonio Spurs for the Southwest Division lead.
