Rockets' Lawson out vs. Jazz with sprained ankle

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Houston Rockets point guard Ty Lawson has been ruled out of Monday night's contest versus the Utah Jazz with a sprained ankle, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.

Lawson has struggled to stay on the court as of late, having just come back from a two-game suspension on Dec. 23.

The UNC alumnus has floundered in his first season in Houston, posting career lows in points per game (6.4), field-goal percentage (.371), and 3-point percentage (.313).

Jason Terry should get minutes as the backup point guard in Lawson's absence, a role he served when the 28-year-old missed time earlier this season.
