Suns' Morris after blowout loss to Lakers: 'We can't go no lower'

Kyle Terada / USA TODAY Sports

Given that the last week included a loss to the historically woeful Philadelphia 76ers, the firing of two assistant coaches, and the surrendering of 142 points in Sacramento, it was tough to envision things getting much worse for the Phoenix Suns.

Then they were blown out by the 8-27 Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, in a game that saw the Suns score 22 first-half points and trail by as many as 38 in the second half.

With the embarrassment fresh on their minds, Eric Bledsoe out for the remainder of the season, and the disgruntled Markieff Morris sitting out four of the last five games, it now seems quite possible things can, in fact, get worse for the Suns, who will play eight winning teams over their next 10 contests.

But don't tell Morris anything about that.

"We're at ground zero right now," Morris said, according to Sports Illustrated's Ben Golliver. "We can't go no lower."

Morris also responded to owner Robert Sarver's comments earlier Sunday, after Sarver blamed the millennial culture and generation for Morris' inability to handle the Suns trading his brother, Marcus Morris.
