Eric Bledsoe (knee) out for remainder of season with a torn meniscus

Bledsoe (knee) underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus Tuesday, and he'll miss the remainder of the season, John Schuhmann of NBA.com reports.

Analysis:

Initially, the Suns had hoped Bledsoe could return around the All-Star break, but team doctors opted to repair, rather than remove, his torn meniscus, which entails a lengthier recovery period. As such, Bledsoe will miss the remainder of the year, cutting his season short after just 31 games. The Kentucky product was off to the best start of his career, holding averages of 20.4 points, 6.1 assists and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 45.3 percent from the field and 37.2 percent from three, up from 32.4 last season. In Bledsoe's extended absence, Brandon Knight will take over as the lead guard, with both Devin Booker and T.J. Warren in line to step into larger roles. Booker started in Bledsoe's place Monday night against Cleveland, while Warren came off the bench to score 23 points in 27 minutes.
