Jazz's Burks to undergo surgery on fractured ankle

Russ Isabella / USA Today Sports

Utah Jazz shooting guard Alec Burks will undergo surgery on his fractured left fibula Tuesday, the team announced.

The five-year man suffered the injury in a Dec. 26 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers when his layup attempt was halted by Paul Pierce in mid-air, resulting in the 24-year-old crashing to the floor.

He also suffered a concussion on the play.

Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski recently reported that Burks is expected to miss at least six weeks.

The Colorado product has 2015-16 averages of 14.3 points (a career high), 3.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 27.1 minutes in 28 games.
