Pierce will get the start at power forward Monday against Washington with Blake Griffin (quad) sidelined, Brad Turner of the LA Times reports.

Analysis:

Josh Smith got the starting nod in Saturday's win over the Jazz, but he played only five minutes, with Pierce coming off the bench to score 20 points in 27 minutes. Coach Doc Rivers will change things up and insert pierce into the starting lineup, and he'll join DeAndre Jordan and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute in the frontcourt. Pierce experienced success playing as a small-ball four for the Wizards last season, but the 38-year-old has endured a rough start to his Clippers tenure, and he enters Monday with season averages of just 4.6 points and 2.2 rebounds per game while shooting 32.6 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from three.
