Chandler returns to Suns lineup off bench vs. Wolves

Jennifer Stewart / USA TODAY Sports

Center Tyson Chandler returned from an eight-game absence Sunday when his Phoenix Suns hosted the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The veteran came off the bench, not a surprising move given how well Alex Len has played at the five while Chandler has been shelved with a hamstring injury. Despite Len's capable production, the Suns have gone 3-5 with Chandler out.

In addition to the eight straight, Chandler missed nine of the last 10.

The 2012 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, who was signed by Phoenix in the summer mostly for his rim protection, has struggled offensively. His 46.4 percent field goal percentage is his lowest since 2003-04, and a far cry from the past five seasons, in which he's been a near-65 percent shooter. Furthermore, he's taking fewer shots, with less than four field goal attempts per game.
