VIDEO: Terrence Ross' quality defense leads to emphatic offense

With DeMarre Carroll now signed indefinitely due to a right knee contusion, the Toronto Raptors will need Terrence Ross to produce more than ever.

The 24-year-old has struggled mightily to begin the season, averaging 5.2 points on 33.3 percent shooting in 15 games off the bench. A move to the starting lineup in Carroll's stead could be just what the doctor ordered.

During the first quarter of Monday's home game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Ross intercepted a high pass and ran the full length of the Air Canada Centre floor to throw down a vicious tomahawk slam:

He finished the frame with 13 points on four-of-eight shooting, and three-of-five from 3-point range - both positive signs that an increased role may indeed lead to a boost in confidence, and some better all-around play from the $31-million man.
