Andrea Bargnani out vs. Knicks with lingering hamstring injury

Brooklyn Nets center Andrea Bargnani will be denied a chance at revenge against the New York Knicks on Friday.

Consequently, Knicks fans will be denied a chance at booing one of their least successful acquisitions in franchise history.

Bargnani is still suffering from a hamstring injury and will sit out his second straight game, Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post reports.

The Knicks took on Bargnani in a 2013 trade with the Toronto Raptors for the costly price of an unprotected first-round pick. The acquisition was supposed to give the Knicks a stretch-four to put them over the top, but Bargnani only played 71 games across two failed seasons while posting minus-0.5 win shares.

Things haven't changed since Bargnani migrated to the crosstown rivals. He's averaging 5.9 points per game while shooting 41 percent from the field and 22.2 percent from deep, much to the dismay of head coach Lionel Hollins.

Thomas Robinson will likely soak up the majority of Bargnani's missed minutes.
