Bulls F Mike Dunleavy has setback with back injury

CHICAGO (AP) Bulls forward Mike Dunleavy Jr. is planning to see two specialists this week after he had a setback in his recovery from offseason back surgery.

Coach Fred Hoiberg said Monday that Dunleavy is going to stop his on-court work and focus on rehabbing the injury for about two weeks.

''He was really sore when we went out on the West Coast,'' Hoiberg said. ''And he had upped his activity level quite a bit. And it quieted down a lot, which I think is a good sign, these last couple of days when he's had inactivity. Now it's a matter of getting those muscles strengthened in the back and in the core and like I said, go out, see a specialist and put a plan together and hopefully get him back out there.''

Dunleavy had lower back surgery on Sept. 25 and was expected to be out eight to 10 weeks.

The 35-year-old Dunleavy re-signed with Chicago in July after he averaged 9.4 points and shot 40.7 percent from 3-point range in 63 games last season.

The Bulls also were without guards Kirk Hinrich and Aaron Brooks for their game against San Antonio. Brooks has a hamstring injury, and Hinrich is recovering from a hip pointer.
