Analysis:

Both Irving and Iman Shumpert (wrist) took part in Monday's practice, but neither player has been cleared for full basketball activities. Coach David Blatt declined to elaborate on the details of their involvement in Monday's session, but he noted that the Cavaliers are still taking things slowly. "We had a moderated practice that we were able to get them to take part in a good piece of it," Blatt said. "Day-to-day, making a little bit more progress." Irving is expected to speak with the media Wednesday, at which point more details should be available. The three-time All-Star is still expected back sometime around the end of the calendar year, and Blatt danced around the question of whether both Irving and Shumpert would be ready for the team's Christmas Day showdown with Golden State. "I really can't say," Blatt said. "Every day I'm watching them and they're making progress. We're being very conscious and conscientious about keeping them within their limits and not rushing them back. But they are both working hard and well and they are making progress. Exactly when they're going to return, I just can't say because I don't know. Not yet."
