Pelicans' Evans, Cole could debut Tuesday vs. Grizzlies

The injury-riddled New Orleans Pelicans might not have to wait much longer to welcome back a pair of key back court contributors.

Head coach Alvin Gentry told Pelicans.com's Jim Eichenhofer Saturday that he expects Tyreke Evans and Norris Cole to suit up sooner than later.

"There's a very good chance that both of those guys will be ready Tuesday," the Pels' bench boss said.

Evans has been recovering from knee surgery, while Cole is tending to an ankle sprain.

While Ish Smith has done an admirable job filling in for the team's full-time lead guards, the Pelicans have sorely missed Evans' slashing and play-making abilities as well as Cole's long-range shooting and championship experience.

Inconsistency with regard to New Orleans' roster has provided Gentry with a challenge in trying to guide his 4-13 squad to more victories. Therefore, the 2015-16 debut of Evans and Cole would be a sight for sore eyes for hoop heads in the bayou.

The Pelicans will face the 10-8 Memphis Grizzlies at home on Tuesday.
