Rubio won't play in Sunday's game against the Clippers, Jerry Zgoda of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Analysis:

Rubio went through a pregame workout Sunday, but will be held out of the game as a precautionary measure to further rest his sore ankle. Though he'll be inactive Sunday, Rubio doesn't seem far from a return and will be aiming to heal up in time for Tuesday's matchup with the Magic. Zach LaVine started for Rubio on Friday, so the Timberwolves will likely go that route again Sunday. Andre Miller should also see an increase in minutes while assuming the backup point guard role during Rubio's absence.
