Mavs rest Parsons vs. Spurs on 2nd night of back-to-back

David Butler II / USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Mavericks continue to bring Chandler Parsons along slowly.

The small forward is still working his way back into game shape following offseason knee surgery, and hasn't yet been cleared to play both ends of back-to-backs. As such, he didn't suit for Wednesday night's loss to the division-rival San Antonio Spurs.

Dallas lost to the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday, as Parsons scored just six points on 3-of-9 shooting.

The Mavs have been significantly limiting Parsons' minutes even when he does play, and only recently bumped his cap from 20 to 23 minutes per game. In 11 outings this season, he's averaging 7.8 points and 3.1 rebounds in 18.5 minutes.

When he sits, the Mavs have experimented with a few different lineups, but the one they've gone to most often has featured combo guard Raymond Felton moving into the starting unit at the two-spot, and Wesley Matthews sliding to small forward.
