Marcus Smart: Expected to miss beyond two weeks

Smart (lower left leg) said Wednesday that he's without a definitive timetable for a return, but expects to miss more than the two weeks initially suggested earlier this week, A. Sherrod Blakely of CSN New England reports.

Analysis:

According to Blakely's report, Smart has been using crutches along with a leg brace to aid his recovery from a subluxation (dislocation) of the proximal tibfib joint, which doesn't exactly paint an optimistic picture about his recovery. The Celtics will likely wait and see how Smart progresses over the next week before perhaps offering up a better estimation of how much time he might miss. For the time being, those who are holding Smart in shallower formats can probably cut bait, unless there's a IR spot available to stash him. While Smart remains sidelined, Isaiah Thomas and Avery Bradley should routinely receive 30-plus minutes per game, while bench players like Evan Turner, Terry Rozier, and R.J. Hunter could see smaller bumps in playing time.
